VCU Disability Support Services Housing Accommodations:
Smoking Policy: All VCU residence halls became smoke-free effective August 1, 2010. No smoking is permitted within residence hall bedrooms, common areas, hallways, stairwells, outdoor walkways, balconies, courtyards, or within 25 feet of all residence hall entrances.
Landline Phone Availability: Separate landline telephone connections are no longer provided in students' rooms within the VCU residence halls. Students therefore should not bring their own landline telephone. However, "courtesy" landline phones will be available throughout each hall. If a student wishes to use a courtesy phone for a long-distance call, he or she will need to provide their own calling card.

HD Cable at Residence Halls
Residential Life & Housing is happy to announce that Comcast has installed high definition cable service in the residence halls this summer, bringing a wider range of channels, six HBO channels and clearer service to each room on campus. We are able to do this without the need for cable boxes in each room.
What does this mean for you? All you have to do is bring a TV with a QAM tuner installed, and hook it directly to the cable jack in your room with your coax cable.
I don't know if my TV has a QAM tuner: Please check with your manufacturer to be sure your TV has a QAM tuner. TV's that do not have QAM tuners will not work in the residence halls without a converter box, which can be purchased separately online or at electronics stores.
