Apply for Housing, Summer 2009

Apply for Housing, Summer 2009

Before starting the online housing application process, please read through ALL the information below.

Whether you are attending classes on the Monroe Park campus or are participating in a program on the VCU Health Sciences (MCV) downtown campus, you may choose to live in University housing during Summer 2009.

When to Apply

You may apply for 2009 summer housing online beginning Friday, April 17, 2009

Information You Need to Begin
If you were a VCU student in Fall 2008 - Spring 2009, you will need your student ID number ("V" + 8 numeric digits) to access the online application system.

Non-university students must contact VCU Central Housing at (804) 828-7666 before applying.

Available Residence Halls
If you are attending classes on the Monroe Park campus, Rhoads Hall is your residence hall option. All rooms are doubles (two students assigned to one room).

If you are attending classes on the MCV downtown campus, you may choose to live in the MCV Low Rise halls (Bear, McRae, Rudd or Warner). All rooms are singles.

Summer Housing Terms

Summer housing terms are set up in full-week (7 days) increments. You will sign up for the number of weeks you will need on-campus housing while attending summer class sessions. For a listing of the Summer Housing "Booking" Terms, see the links at the top right of this page or go directly to the "Booking terms for Rhoads Hall (Monroe Park Campus) or Low-Rises (MCV Campus).

If you are attending a class that begins mid-week, you will choose the housing term that begins just prior to the class start date. For example, if your class begins Wednesday, July 15, you will sign up for the housing term that begins Sunday, July 12.

If you decide to take more summer classes and wish to sign up for additional housing terms, you must complete the "Request to Extend Summer 2009 Housing Assignment" form, which is available in the offices of Rhoads Hall (Monroe Park campus) and Bear Hall (VCU Health Sciences/MCV campus).

In-Between Sessions
You may continue to reside in your same room and leave your possessions there only if you have signed up and paid for the housing term(s) between your summer class sessions. If you have not paid for that time in-between class sessions, you must completely vacate the room.

Cost and Payment of Charges

The daily room rate is $18.10. Students are also required to pay a daily communications fee rate of $1.50 (which includes Internet and cable TV access and local phone service).

If you are registered for VCU summer classes, your summer housing costs will be automatically posted to your student account. All other summer residents will receive an invoice and will pay their bill at the VCU Cashiers Office, located at 809 West Broad Street.

How to Apply

Click the Residential Gateway link at the bottom of this page.

Follow the instructions and prompts noted on each page of the summer housing application.

Signing Your Summer Housing Contract
All summer residents electronically "sign" their summer housing contract within five (5) days of selecting their room assignment. All students should print a copy of their contract to present at check-in.

Cancellation
You must cancel your summer room assignment at least 10 business days prior to your arrival date by submitting the Petition to Cancel Summer 2009 Housing Contract form. If you do not cancel your assignment within that time frame, you will be held to the Terms & Conditions of your contract.

If you have unusual circumstances occur, contact the VCU Central Housing Office at (804) 828-7666
